Member Moment: Celebrating Austin’s Nonprofits at SXSW
SXSW is upon us, and with that, comes lots of opportunities to celebrate all that is Austin. Our nonprofit community is an integral part of who we are as a city, so it’s only fitting SXSW showcases and celebrates the innovative and impactful work of the nonprofits and community leaders dedicated to improving our city.
The Movement Towards and Inclusive Austin Recap
Throughout SXSW, many Mission Capital members will speak at social impact panels or meetups to share their expertise. On March 6, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation presented The Movement Towards an Inclusive Austin featuring Mission Capital members, IDEA Public Schools, Breakthrough Austin, and Goodwill Industries, and moderated by Charley Scarborough, Mission Capital SVP and Business Partner.
Panelists shared how they’re increasing access to education for students and adult learners by measuring data, creating wraparound support and serving in areas where resources currently do not exist. The discussion emphasized the importance of building strong connections across our community, and how those connections serve as an integral step towards inclusion.

The SXSW Community Service Awards
Showcasing our nonprofit community doesn't stop there! The SXSW Community Service Awards recognize six individuals and six organizations for their commitment to developing solutions to challenges facing Central Texas. Organizations nominated include Mission Capital members Allies Against Slavery, Creative Action, Jeremiah Program, Kids in a New Groove and Urban Roots.

The SXSW Community Service Awards are FREE and open to the public. You do not need an SXSW credential of any kind to attend. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided!
