Mission Capital Program Fellow - 18 Month Fellowship

 

Job Purpose

Mission Capital is seeking a Program Fellow to join our Consulting Services Team for an 18-month fellowship. Since 2001, Mission Capital has provided nonprofit consulting services to organizations throughout Central Texas. We have a team dedicated to every practice area of nonprofit management, including strategic planning, board development, change management, organizational dynamics, mergers and more. 

The Program Fellow will join the efforts of staff and board to deliver on our mission to “equip and connect mission-driven leaders, organizations and networks working to advance equity and opportunity”. The ideal candidate is excited about working at Mission Capital and possesses a strong desire to learn about and be engaged in capacity building for nonprofits. This individual will bring a strong customer service orientation and project management skills to support a high-functioning team of consultants and a growing portfolio of nonprofit organizations. They will also be flexible in nature and enjoy adapting between projects and activities.

The Program Fellow will bring a strong interest in data gathering and analysis, with a gift for turning information into stories. This position is ideal for one who thrives in a fast-paced, engaging, and multi-function role. 

The Program Fellow position is an 18-month placement. At the end of the fellowship, the Fellow will have made significant contributions to Mission Capital’s consulting practice, gained a holistic understanding of general consulting techniques and consulting practice management, developed core skills (e.g. group facilitation techniques) and deep knowledge of and experience within the nonprofit sector. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

Consulting Operations (45%) 

  • Serve as first point of contact for all incoming consulting inquiries. 
  • Arrange logistics and provide occasional on-site and/or virtual support for consulting client engagements. 
  • Provide operational and administrative support to consulting team including business development tracking, proposal development, project evaluations, contract processing, capacity tracking, and materials inventory. 
  • Serve as the team liaison and point-of-contact for consulting-related Salesforce duties. Work with the consulting team to ensure all data is recorded timely and accurately in Salesforce. 
  • Support coordination of cross-functional team initiatives such as Strategy and Sustainability, Revenue Generator, and Succession Planning cohorts. 

 

Direct Project Consulting (40%) 

  • Contribute to the overall success of assigned consulting projects, with a focus on data gathering, analysis, and reporting. Duties may include:
    • Survey design and analysis  
    • Conducting interviews/focus groups 
    • Conducting benchmarking and other research 
    • Writing and editing reports 
    • Creating presentations 
    • Meeting facilitation 
    • Scheduling meetings and other project management support 

 

Mission Capital General Support and Thought Leadership (Approx. 15%) 

  • Participate as a full member of the Mission Capital team, adhering to core values 
  • Attend all-staff meetings, participate at Mission Capital events, and coordinate collaborative activities with other departments as needed 
  • Identify and participate in other professional development opportunities as identified by the Coordinator with support from the Director of Consulting Services 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • In alignment with our strategic plan, participate in the building of a ”race, equity & belonging (REB)” culture across all MC departments and teams.
  • Work with the Inclusion Council and participate in internal race, equity and belonging activities such as collective equity work sessions and affinity groups to embed and center race equity in both internal and external programming.
  • Apply a race equity lens and embed equity in all essential job duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A combination of education and experience in project management, customer service relations, and administrative support
  • Proven experience working with data management software and Microsoft Office products

 

Desired Skills 

  • Working knowledge of the Central Texas nonprofit landscape
  • Background in business, marketing, consulting, customer service or related areas of expertise
  • Experience managing data and processes in a CRM (Salesforce experience a plus)

 

Additional Information

Reports To: This position reports to the Director of Consulting

Position Status: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt Fellowship

Virtual Office: Mission Capital staff are currently working remotely until at least December 31, 2020. This position will also work remotely until we are able to safely return to the Mission Capital Office.

Salary: The Program Fellowship starting salary is $17 - $18 per hour and is negotiable depending on experience
